Description of the project
Program is targeting the implementation of the full functionality of Transportation Management software products that provide the following list of capabilities:
• A comprehensive product catalog that customers can buy from.
• The possibility for customer to order multi-modal products.
• Transportation proposals to provide viable execution options across modes and service providers.
• The creation of a balanced execution plan across all.
• An end-to-end multi-modal shipment plan detailing transportation and administrative events.
• A bill to be generated for each product ordered.
To reach that goal,will work with system integrators and a variety of other vendors.
Summary of tasks
The role of Contract Negotiator is two-fold:
• The individual in this role will serve as negotiator for large, strategic, complex contracting efforts with provider partners and vendor partners in support of strategic transportation management transformation initiatives as well as provide comprehensive contract drafting and language
negotiation oversight and guidance to the Provider Contracting team.
• The Contract Negotiator position requires solid understanding of transportation business and technology as well as legal principals such that he/she can effectively address, by crafting language and articulating rationale for acceptance, rejection or proposal of alternative language to both the provider of services as well as to in house counsel, leadership, and colleagues. Requires extensive experience in performing these types of duties with business contracts in an environment of high technology.
Works with other leadership, in house counsel, peers and colleagues on an enterprise-wide basis.
Specific accountabilities:
• Carry independent workload of contracting events
• Take lead, or participate, in Team language and rate negotiations on key, strategic vendors
• Provide redlining support and mentoring to Contracting personnel
• Act as liaison with Legal department in vetting language options when warranted
Mandatory Skills (Indicate the number of years of experience for each requirement)
Minimum five (15) years contracting for technology in transportation management area;
Minimum five (5) years of experience in provider relations, vendor management or a related area.
General knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Experience structuring complex IT hardware/software agreements with large and small vendors
• Extensive experience negotiating creative contractual frameworks with risk sharing, benefit sharing, and performance driven guiding principles
• Comfortable working with internal IT program management and technical personnel to understand business requirements
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage numerous deliverables
• Extensive knowledge, experience and proficiency in contract commercial clause drafting, including strong legal acumen
• Ability to successfully negotiate financial arrangements to meet margin and revenue goals
• Proven ability to successfully working with a multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent verbal and communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively, persuasive negotiation skills, and the ability to communicate both strategic and technical issues to individuals and in presentations to groups
